Rejuvenation started as a small architectural salvage shop in the 1970s—so sustainability has always been in our DNA. It also remains a significant part of who we are today, from our curated Rejuvenation Vintage Collection to LED lighting that we design—offering a selection of responsibly-sourced and eco-friendly products has always been one of our top priorities.

Earth Month is always an opportunity to see how you can live a more sustainable lifestyle, and here we’ve rounded up our top five earth-friendly updates to help you create a more sustainable home all year round:

1. Install Energy-Saving Lighting

LED lights are designed to emit light in a specific direction, which maximizes the light output of your bulb and helps to light your space more effectively. LED light bulbs also use about 75% less energy and last 25 times longer than incandescent lighting. Our LED fixtures and bulbs typically have a lifespan of about 20,000 hours.

Installing LED lighting is a great way to give any space in your home an energy-saving refresh. We offer both integrated LED light fixtures as well as LED bulbs that can be paired with regular incandescent fixtures—which will help cut costs and conserve energy, in addition to adding a beautiful source of ambient light to your space.

2. Add Character with Restored Vintage Pieces

Reclaiming vintage pieces is how we began. It's still at the core of our business and a big part of how we are moving into the future—we've always believed that the most sustainable option is often the one that has already been created.

We scour the globe to source the best vintage pieces, bringing these one-of-a-kind finds back to the restoration shop at our factory in Portland, where our team of expert craftspeople rewire antique lighting and refinish cabinets—carefully and authentically bringing each piece back to life. Our studio restores 3,000+ antique and vintage pieces a year and our assortment of vintage lighting, hardware, furniture, and decor always features a freshly curated selection.

3. Refresh Your Bedding with Sustainably Sourced Textiles

We strive to source bedding that is made of natural fibers that are safe for you and the environment. Sustainably crafted bedding is comfortable and durable—and it’s also made without any harmful chemicals or pesticides during farming or production. When you update your bedding and bath linens with sustainably sourced textiles, it benefits both the environment and your family.

Choose from a variety of GOTS-certified, BCI-certified or Oeko-Tex certified textiles, from bedding to bath towels.

Our OEKO-TEX certified linen bedding is also made at a Fair Trade facility. Fair Trade Certified™ products ensure fair and safe labor practices, improved livelihoods, and empower workers to invest in their communities. As a proud member of the Fair Trade USA network of brands, we pay a premium for every Fair Trade product sold back to the worker committee to collectively invest in products of their choice.

4. Opt for Eco-Friendly Furniture

Upholstered Sofas & Chairs
When it comes to furniture, sustainable details matter—from the wood frame and cushioning to metal springs and clips, all of our custom-made upholstered furniture is crafted in the USA from domestic and imported parts by trusted manufacturers. Many of our sofa and sectional collections, like the Sublimity, Wrenton, Hastings, and McNary, as well as our Clinton chairs, are benchmade by artisans at a family-owned company in North Carolina where sustainability is a priority.

Every sofa is flame-retardant-free and features durable recycled spring cushions. All of the padding used in the seat deck, outside arms and outside backs is made from 100% recycled polyester. Polyester fiber used on the inside arms and inside backs is made from 80% recycled material. Metal parts are produced from a minimum of 95% recycled steel and painted with lead-free paints, and the glue used in securing frame parts is water-based and does not contain any formaldehyde.

Responsibly Sourced Wood
We are committed to providing sustainable options to update your home, which is why 82% of all of our wood is responsibly sourced. Our popular Shaw Bedroom Collection, Broadbent Made for You Seating, and other styles are crafted in the USA using responsibly sourced North American hardwoods.

FSC®-Certified Teak
Our Jasper Outdoor Collection and Bayocean Outdoor Collection are made with Forest Stewardship Council-certified® teak, offering durability, style, and eco-conscious production. The Forest Stewardship Council® certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.

5. Choose Consciously Crafted Decorative Accents

rugs

Handmade in India at a Fair Trade Certified™ factory, our flatweave rugs are produced according to rigorous standards that protect farmers, workers, and the environment.

Our versatile indoor/outdoor rugs are crafted from P.E.T., which is polyester made from recycled plastic water bottles. These rugs are GRS-certified (Global Recycled Standard). P.E.T. offers a green alternative for textiles because they require less energy for production than standard polyester and reduce global waste—they are also easy to clean and make an easy outdoor update.
