handcrafted rugs

Once you've found the right rug for your space, make sure it stays in prime condition with our tips and tricks below. From getting out creases to removing debris, we'll help you make sure your rug stands the test of time.

Unpacking Your Rug

Packing and shipping may cause temporary creases or cause the rug edges to flip up. To flatten out your rug, back-roll or reverse roll it and allow 1-3 days for the creases to relax. If this doesn’t work, try taking a wet sponge and moistening the areas where the curling is at its worst; the water will help loosen the fibers and enable it to lay flat.

Rug Pads

To protect your investment, use a rug pad. A rug pad extends the life of your rug, prevents any color transfer to your floors, and provides traction between the rug and the floor to prevent slipping.

outdoor rug care

Indoor/Outdoor PET Rugs

Cleaning: Prevent debris from settling into the roots of the fibers by vacuuming regularly. Use a low-power setting without a beater brush. For best results, vacuum from different directions, making several passes over the area.

Placement: Do not place rugs on recently finished hardwood floors that have not had time to completely cure. Do not leave in standing water for extended periods of time in order to avoid mold/mildew growth. Slight fading can occur in direct sunlight. Never fold your rug for storage.

Stains Removal: Remove spills immediately; if liquid, blot with clean, un-dyed cloth by pressing firmly around the spill to absorb as much as possible. PET rugs may be rinsed regularly with an outdoor hose and mild soap. Professional cleaning recommended for difficult stains.

wool rug care

Indoor Wool Rugs

Cleaning: Prevent debris from settling into the roots of the fibers by vacuuming regularly. Use a low-power setting without a beater brush. For wool rugs, keep in mind that a beater brush may cause damage to the pile. For best results, vacuum from different directions, making several passes over the area.

Placement: If your rug still doesn't want to lie flat after a few days, help it out by steaming or ironing the curled areas on a low setting. Plain brown craft paper over the rug protects it from the iron. Iron minimally to avoid damaging the rug. Make sure to rotate or reposition your rug and rug pad every 3 to 6 months. Rotating your rug will promote even wear and tear on the surface and extend the life of the rug. Also void direct and continuous exposure to sunlight as fading can occur.

Stain Removal: Remove spills immediately; if liquid, blot with clean, un-dyed cloth by pressing firmly around the spill to absorb as much as possible. Professional cleaning recommended for difficult stains.

Note: Due to the handmade nature of our wool rugs, shedding of loose fibers will occur but will diminish over time. Expect the most shedding to occur within the first 3 to 6 months. Do not pull loose ends—instead clip with scissors to remove.
