One of the things that most defines a light fixture is its shade. From size and scale to color and form, a light can be transformed by its partner, the shade. We offer hundreds of designs, so you can completely alter the look of your light. With so many rich materials to choose from, like steel, aluminum, and brass, our beautifully hand-blown glass shades showcase expert craftsmanship and quality materials.

Handcrafted in West Virginia

We're proud to partner with one of the few remaining hand-blown glass factories in the USA, Davis-Lynch. Founded in 1943, this third-generation establishment handcrafts each piece, imbuing every shade they make with a rich history. They specialize in producing the opal and crystal shades used to customize our lights, which are then assembled by hand at our Portland factory.

Through a complex and technical art, the defining details of Davis-Lynch hand-blown glass shades are found in the gentle, graceful curves, the flawless structure, artisanal hand-painted touches, and the undeniable character of every piece.

Perfect with so many of our light fixtures, like the Hood, Eastmoreland, Thurman, Grandview, and Rose City, our hand-blown glass shades come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes you can pair with pendants, sconces, and flush-mount fixtures alike.

Modern Schoolhouse Shades

One of our original (and still most popular) shade styles, Schoolhouse, fittingly derives its name from the places those lights most commonly graced. Widely used from 1900 through the 1950s, Schoolhouse-style lights were ideal for large common rooms or public spaces, such as schoolrooms, libraries, or grand foyers. Schoolhouse lights were cherished for their even, ambient light.

In its most traditional form, a classic opal globe, Schoolhouse shades have managed to keep up with the times, stylistically speaking. Now available in an array of versatile shapes and multiple sizes, there’s a shade for every space and aesthetic. With its historic allure, Schoolhouse lighting remains a classic choice for any room of the home.

One of our favorite features of our award-winning Hood light is how much your shade choice can change the fixture’s look. A hand-blown cylinder shade or classic globe shade in Clear or Opal glass can completely transform its style profile.

Hand-Painted Details

Stripes say it all. Sophisticated yet simple, our hand-blown striped shades are painted by skilled craftspeople using small brushes, where they freehand every stroke. With a steady hand and years of experience, these classic patterns and their slight imperfections evoke the same authentic character today as they did in the early 1900s.

Our extensive collection of hand-blown glass shades can transform any space. From turn-of-the-century to Mid-Century Modern, Arts & Crafts to Art Deco, our almost-endless fixture and shade combinations offer the opportunity to explore creative combinations for every space in your home.
